\"\"<\/a>idiosynCrazy productions will be holding an open performance workshop on Saturday, April 28<\/strong>.\u00a0 The workshop will be centered around exploring performance ideas that we are using in our latest work, Private Places<\/em><\/strong> (premiering this year in the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival<\/a>).\u00a0 With original inspiration from service industry culture and J-Sette\/bucking<\/a>, Private Places<\/em><\/strong> examines notions of order: how we order, categorize, groom, distinguish, fix, and distort ourselves to achieve certain standards of presentation.\u00a0 The work continues to be driven by ideas about service industry culture, and how industry also orders\/displays\/distinguishes human bodies in particular ways.\u00a0 Ultimately, we hope the work will be able to encourage reflection upon the question (in its various interpretations): How are we serving ourselves?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop will be led by idiosynCrazy <\/strong>staff (Shannon Murphy, Shavon Norris, Jumatatu Poe).\u00a0 PLEASE NOTE:<\/em> This workshop will also be an opportunity for idiosynCrazy staff to look for dancers* to fill some of the roles in Private Places<\/em><\/strong> for the premiere in September.\u00a0 If this is a possibility that interests you, you can find rehearsal dates below.\u00a0 Some workshop participants will be invited back the next day to explore some material with company members.<\/p>\n

WHAT TO EXPECT:<\/strong>
\nfairly athletic movement (you may want to bring kneepads), venturing into various genres of contemporary dance forms, spoken text and other vocal sounding\/singing, exploring quick shifts of emotional\/psychological energies, exploring quick shifts of caricatured identities, crazy fun!<\/p>\n

\nSaturday, April 28, from 10am \u2013 3pm, with a lunch break<\/em><\/strong> (some workshop participants may be invited to a second workshop on Sunday, April 29, from 10am \u2013 3pm)<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Please send a reservation email to info@idiosynCrazy.org<\/a> by Friday, April 20th<\/sup>, to reserve a space<\/strong>.\u00a0 Include your name and address, and a short written statement about how you prefer to present yourself (you can have fun with this\u2026\u00a0 can be a poem, short story, or just a simple paragraph\u2026\u00a0 just to get you thinking about it)<\/p>\n

* we will be looking to cast dancers for Private Places<\/em><\/strong>, directed by Jumatatu Poe.\u00a0 If interested in being considered, please note this in your reservation email<\/em>.\u00a0 You would need to be available for rehearsals in Philadelphia on May 3rd<\/sup>, from May 17th<\/sup> \u2013 June 1st<\/sup>, from June 18th<\/sup> \u2013 25th<\/sup>, and from August 13th<\/sup> \u2013 September 22nd<\/sup>; also, you would need availability to be in Pittsburgh from December 10 \u2013 15, 2012.\u00a0 Premiere show dates are still being confirmed, but will be in the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival between September 7 \u2013 22.\u00a0 Rehearsals are paid at $25\/hr.\u00a0 There will be five premiere performances paid at $250 each.\u00a0 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WELCOME ALL AGES, BODY TYPES, AND ABILITIES.\u00a0 We appreciate and respect diversity.<\/p>\n
